Premise
Emma Carlisle is weeks away from marrying into one of the most respected families in Tidewater Cove, Oregon, a small coastal town south of Cannon Beach with a working harbor, dramatic cliffs, and an annual Lantern Festival. Her life is secure, admired, and carefully planned, but emotionally empty. When she meets Luke Mercer, a local boat builder restoring his late father's fishing vessel at the harbor's edge, she begins to experience something she hasn't felt in years: spontaneity, honesty, and genuine connection. As the thirty-day wedding countdown accelerates and pressure from family and community intensifies, Emma must confront a quiet but terrifying truth: she is about to commit to a life she does not actually want. Set against the salt air and weathered docks of Tidewater Cove, this is a story about the courage it takes to choose an authentic life over a perfect-looking one.
Setting
Tidewater Cove, a working Oregon fishing town about forty minutes south of Cannon Beach, in the present day. Weathered gray docks and rust-streaked trawlers, basalt cliffs and a lighthouse beam sweeping the water, a warm cafe where the dock meets the shore, and salt, diesel, and creosote on the air. Above it all, a thirty-day countdown ticking toward a wedding.
Tone
Grounded, intimate, and quietly nostalgic, warm but never sentimental. A literary sensibility inside a commercial romance, where the tension builds through accumulating honesty rather than melodrama and the biggest feelings arrive in small moments and silences.
For fans of
Cedar Cove (Debbie Macomber), the Bluebell Inn series (Denise Hunter), and Jenny Hale's coastal romances.
