Premise
A maintenance technician wakes aboard a seed ship with no memory of who he is or why he is there, his pod malfunctioning, his body weak, his mind blank, until he reads his own name off a cracked display. Around him lies a row of dead crew, and through the viewport a blue-green planet grows larger by the hour. One other survivor remains: a woman in a failing hibernation pod he has only days to save. As his memories return in linear, dreamlike fragments, a childhood on an orbital station above a dying, self-poisoned world, a love affair and a moral fracture, a near-religious anti-propagation movement called the Last Generation that sabotaged the ship before launch, he races two overlapping clocks: revive the woman, reverse the spreading sabotage, and hand-fly a crippled vessel down before it falls.
Setting
A failing sublight seed ship deep in its final approach, falling toward an unnamed blue-green world that swells in the viewport hour by hour. Industrial corridors slick with condensation, a cryo bay of sealed pods, a cold bridge where alarms drill and the air tastes of rust and stale ozone. In memory, an orbital station above a dying, self-poisoned world, warm with the smell of hydroponics. Far future, no year given.
Tone
Tense, intimate, and melancholic: a claustrophobic survival thriller braided with a love story told backward, building dread through mystery and paying off in a quiet, devastating reveal. Propulsive but emotionally resonant, never surreal. The Martian meets Dark Matter.
